FORT IRWIN, Calif. — Fort Irwin United States Army Garrison hosted a Desert Managers forum to help foster coordination among local, state, and federal agencies to work together for a more compatible management future of the Mojave Desert from Feb. 26-27.
The event included briefings on numerous topics, such as burro management on Fort Irwin, the desert tortoise project, the Mojave ecosystem and a visit to NASA Goldstone and Fort Irwin Water Treatment Facility.
The purpose of the Desert Managers Group is to develop coordinated and complimentary management guidelines, practices, and programs to conserve and enhance the California Deserts for current and future generations.
