Scarlett and Violet Polston decorate skulls at the Fort Irwin Halloween Trunk or Treat Oct. 31.

Soldiers, family members, and civilians celebrated Halloween with coloring potion sheets, skull decorating, a zombie bus, a witch hunt, costume contests, and the post Trunk or Treat contest and candy collection Oct. 31.

With more than 19 different Trunk or Treat opportunities, children of all ages collected candy while dressed in fun and scary costumes.

Victoria Polston, 30, and her three daughters attended the Trunk or Treat and enjoyed a variety of activities including a lengthy trick or treat route through the Post Exchange. They concluded the evening will full buckets of candy.

“They were super excited and didn’t want to leave,” said Polston, describing her daughters at the end of the evening. “We’re here to let the kids have fun and we’re kind of far from everything so it’s cool to be able to come out and do something.”

The Post Exchange presented the annual Halloween event with all costume contest trophies, candy, decorations and staff costumes donated by local vendors.

Trunk or Treat competitors make spooky finishing touches to their vehicle before trick or treaters arrive at the Fort Irwin Halloween Trunk or Treat celebration Oct. 31.

“Witch Hunt 2016 is our annual Halloween event here at Fort Irwin,” said Bettina Ciciriello, Main Store manager. “We have some of our vendor partners who came out here. We have Monster, Hershey’s and Godiva who sponsored all the candy for the kids.”

The entire event was free for all the community.

“We just try to give back to the community because we are part of the community,” said Ciciriello. “We are not the average retailer, we are here for the military.”ities including a lengthy trick or treat route through the Post Exchange. They concluded the evening with full buckets of candy.
