Most people would agree with this idea and desire to experience joy as a natural and normal part of their lives. However, the reality is far too many of us allow ourselves to get caught up with the hurry and worry of life. We hurry with work, family responsibilities and crazy-hectic schedules. We worry about things like relationships, promotions, finances and children.
Our hurry and worry can steal some of the joy that should be a natural part of our lives. It focuses our mental and emotional energy upon the fearful “what ifs” of life. Joy chooses to look at what is right and to recognize the good, beautiful and virtuous that is all around us.
Let’s be honest, there are times when we just fail to see what’s right in our lives. Rose colored glasses, you say? No, I’m talking about appreciating the good, beautiful and virtuous souls around us; those who, while not perfect, are an invaluable part of our daily lives. I invite you to enjoy the friends, spouses, children, parents and a host of others who are the “key personnel” of your life.
Let us find consistent ways of expressing our love and appreciation to those whose mean the most to us. As we do, we will find that greater joy and satisfaction with life will be a natural consequence of our new attitude and practice.
Thanks for your service and sacrifice.
