The 56th SFS Squadron handled the following incidents Nov. 28 through Dec. 31 at Luke Air Force Base:
Tickets
SFS issued citations for 91 moving and 16 nonmoving violations.
Traffic-related incidents
Nov. 28: SFS medical services responded to a report of a major vehicle accident at the intersection of Litchfield Road and Lightning Street. Medical treated one individual who was transported to Abrazo West Campus. One individual was treated and released.
Nov. 29: SFS responded to a report of a minor vehicle accident at Bldg. 545/Post Office. There were no injuries and no citations issued.
Dec. 2: SFS responded to a report of a minor vehicle accident at the South Gate. There were no injuries. SFS issued one citation.
Dec. 4: SFS responded to a report of a minor vehicle accident in the temporary lodging facility parking lot. There were no injuries. SFS briefed and released the individuals.
Dec. 5: SFS responded to a report of a vehicle vs. pedestrian accident. The pedestrian suffered minor injuries and was transported to Abrazo West Campus. SFS issued one citation.
Dec. 8: SFS responded to a report of a minor vehicle accident at vehicle maintenance. The driver of a government-owned vehicle backed into another GOV. There were no injuries. SFs issued one citation.
Dec. 20: SFS responded to a report of a minor vehicle accident vs. a fixed object on the flightline. While backing using a spotter, the driver pulled forward making contact with a pole and causing damage to the vehicle’s front bumper. There were no injuries.
Dec. 20: SFS responded to a report of a minor two-vehicle accident at the intersection of Thunderbird Street and 138th Avenue. A driver was making a right-hand turn, yielded to one vehicle but failed to notice a vehicle behind it. There were no injuries.
Dec. 21: SFS responded to a report of a major four-vehicle and fixed-object accident at the LAFB Exchange parking garage. The initiating vehicle was totaled. There were no injuries.
Dec. 29: SFS responded to a report of a minor vehicle vs. fixed object accident at Kachina Gate. The driver was distracted and struck the curb as the vehicle entered the installation. There were no injuries.
Emergency responses
Nov. 28: SFS responded to a report of a medical emergency in base housing. The individual was transported to Abrazo West Campus.
Dec. 1: SFS responded to a report of a wall jumper. SFS apprehended a nonmilitary-affiliated civilian and issued a two-year barment order. The individual also had a warrant for arrest issued from Glendale police and was extradited.
Dec. 1: SFS responded to a report of a retiree who was detained for driving under the influence at the shoppette. The individual was coming from an off-base bar and stopped to buy alcohol. When an active-duty member attempted to stop the individual from driving, the member called SFS. Glendale police responded and apprehended the individual.
Dec. 1: SFS responded to a report of a domestic disturbance/simple assault in base housing. SFS determined an active-duty member under the influence of alcohol was pushing the individual’s spouse. A 3-month-old baby appeared to be neglected and had an unknown bruise on the face. The active-duty member was charged with Article 28/assault and Article 134/child endangerment.
Dec. 2: SFS responded to a report of a medical emergency in base housing. The individual made complaints of chest pains and was transported to Abrazo West Campus.
Dec. 4: SFS responded to a report of a drug incident at Kachina Gate. An individual was stopped after claiming to be in possession of a weapon. During the search for the weapon, SFS members discovered drug paraphernalia with drug residue. Glendale police responded, and arrested and charged the individual with felony possession of paraphernalia. SFS issued a two-year barment letter from Luke AFB.
Dec. 6: SFS and firefighters responded to a report of a gas leak at Bldg. 948. SFS evacuated affected personnel. Firefighters determined the cause was the pilot light was out on the heater. SFS terminated the response.
Dec. 6: SFS responded to a report of a warrant’s hit at Kachina Gate. The individual was stopped because a burned marijuana odor emitted from the vehicle. The active warrant was out of California and not extraditable. SFS denied base entry and briefed the individual on policy.
Dec. 9: SFS responded to a report of a medical emergency at the Luke AFB Exchange. The individual complained of chest pains and was transported to Abrazo West Campus.
Dec. 9: SFS responded to a report of three juvenile wall jumpers in Ocotillo housing. SFS apprehended and escorted the individuals off base.
Dec. 13: SFS responded to a report of a medical emergency at the Bryant Fitness Center gym annex. The individual complained of abdominal pains and was transported to Abrazo West Campus.
Dec. 13: SFS responded to a report of a medical emergency at the Luke AFB Exchange. The individual complained of chest pains and was transported to Banner Del Webb.
Dec. 14: SFS responded to a report of a warrant’s hit from South Gate Visitor Center for failure to appear from Glendale. Glendale police extradited the individual.
Dec. 16: SFS responded to a report of a medical emergency at Club Five Six. The individual complained of having a panic attack. The individual was transported to Abrazo West Campus.
Dec. 18: SFS responded to a report of a civilian driving under the influence at Kachina Gate. Glendale police apprehended the individual and had the car towed. SFS issued a two-year barment letter from Luke AFB.
Dec. 19: SFS and firefighters responded to a report of a burning odor emitting from a storage room at the Exchange.
Dec. 22: SFS responded to a report of a medical emergency at the base track. An individual complained of chest pains and was transported to Abrazo West Campus.
Dec. 23: SFS responded to a report of a medical emergency at Bldg. 1190. The individual was going into labor and was transported to Banner Hospital.
Dec. 26: SFS responded to a report of a medical emergency in base housing. The cause is unknown. The patient was transported to Abrazo West Campus.
Dec. 29: SFS responded to a report of a medical emergency at the base track. The individual made complaints of dizziness due to a heat-related condition and was transported to Abrazo West Campus for further evaluation.
Dec. 29: SFS responded to a report of a report of an individual communicating a threat at Credit Union West. Subject was irate and upset Credit Union West did not carry the denomination requested and threatened the bank teller. Glendale police arrived and took control.
Dec. 30: SFS responded to a report of a fire alarm at Bldg. 668 and assisted with traffic control.
Dec. 31: SFS responded to a report of a medical emergency at base housing. The individual suffered a back injury and was transported to Abrazzo West Campus.
Nonemergency responses
Nov. 28: SFS responded to a report of a warrant’s hit at the South Gate Visitor Center on a civilian for failure to appear out of Avondale. Avondale police extradited the individual.
Dec. 5: SFS responded to a report of damage to private property in base housing. An individual claimed someone shot five BB-gun pellets through the person’s home window. SFS have no leads.
Dec. 11: SFS responded to a report of an open container in an active-duty Airman’s vehicle. SFS charged the Airman with Article 92/failure to obey a lawful order or regulation. SFS released the Airman to the unit first sergeant.
Dec. 11: SFS responded to a report of an underage Airman in possession of alcohol at Kachina Gate. SFS charged the Airman with Article 92/failure to obey a lawful order or regulation.
Dec. 12: SFS responded to a report of an unleashed aggressive dog in base housing. Maricopa County Animal Control responded and detained the dog. The owners were unavailable, and MCSO transported the dog to an animal shelter.
Dec. 12: SFS responded to a report of an individual driving on a suspended driver’s license at Kachina Gate. Glendale police apprehended the individual and had the car towed.
Dec. 12: SFS responded to a report of shoplifting at the Exchange. The individual attempted to conceal an item valued at $24. Glendale police cited and released the individual.
Dec. 14: SFS responded to a report of shoplifting at the Exchange. The individual attempted to conceal an item valued at $73.10. Glendale police cited and released the individual.
Dec. 22: SFS responded to a report of an individual driving a vehicle on a suspended license at Lightning Gate. Glendale police apprehended the individual and had the car towed.
Dec. 23: SFS responded to a report of damage to a vehicle in base housing. The vehicle had two BB pellet holes on the rear window and two on the front windshield.
Dec. 30: SFS responded to a report of theft of private property in base housing. An individual’s bike was stolen from an open garage.
Alarm activations
SFS responded to 17 alarm activations on base.
Tip of the month
The streets of Luke AFB are busy with vehicles, joggers, cyclists and children. Be alert to people around you and watch out for each other. The speed limit on base is 25 mph, unless otherwise posted. Base housing is 15 mph and all parking lots are 10 mph. Remember to buckle up.
