Heart disease is the leading cause of death for both men and women; locally, this disease currently affects 203 Luke community members. To prevent heart disease and increase awareness of its effects, the 56th Medical Group Health Promotions team is participating in American Heart Month.
Join the team for a 30-minute walk at 11 a.m. daily in February at Fowler Park.
Bring family and friends. Participants are encouraged to wear red T-shirts to show support for American Heart Month.
To lower the risk of developing heart disease, make healthy changes, such as:
• Watch your weight
• Quit tobacco products and stay away from secondhand smoke
• Control cholesterol and blood pressure
• Get active and eat healthy
Controlling and preventing risk factors is also important for people who already have heart disease.
For more information, call 623-856-3778 or go to Health Promotions in Bldg. 700.
