FORT IRWIN, Calif. — Construction has begun on the Fort Irwin Dog Park, in hopes of bringing an even better experience to the community’s four-legged friends and their owners.
Matai services was awarded a $252,000 contract to renovate the existing dog park for the Fort Irwin community. Work began on Aug. 12 and the new area is expected to be unveiled by Dec. 3.
“The project has been in the planning stage for a long time and we are finally at the point of groundbreaking,” Family and MWR director, Marion Taylor said.
The new design took several planning meetings. Once complete, it will feature new shade structures, benches, dog water fountains, dog exercise and play equipment, natural turf grass and an irrigation system.
