FORT IRWIN, Calif. — More than 100 people tuned in live for the Garrison Command team’s monthly Community Service Council on Aug. 4. The event was streamed on Facebook.
Those who briefed the community included the director of the Family and MWR, the school liaison, Housing and legal services. Most questions surrounded the school system, housing and the child development center. With the event happening during the week that school started, much of the information centered around ensuring parents and students were well informed, leading up to the first day of virtual classes.
Information about September and October events were also distributed, including a plan to celebrate Halloween on post on Oct. 29, due to the rotational calendar.
The Villages at Fort Irwin/Housing updated the community on completed construction projects, including the playgrounds and asphalt in the Crackerjack Flats community, as well as the walking path from Barstow Road to Goldstone.
Other upgrades include the kitchens in Bitter Springs and installing cordless blinds and NEST thermostats throughout the communities. Calico Estates will be receiving electric garage door openers, paintings and new fences, which began in August.
More than one thousand people have viewed the live event since Aug. 4.
The next live, community event will be a Housing Town Hall on Sept. 1. You can view it on Facebook.com/NTCfortirwin and Facebook.com/FtIrwin
