Celebrating our veterans

The historic Lancaster Cemetery located in the heart of the City of Lancaster, Calif., will host a Veterans Day ceremony 9 a.m., Nov. 11 at the Veterans Court of Honor.
“As always, we are honoring and celebrating veterans from all wars and conflicts,” said a cemetery spokesperson. “Our speaker will be author, photographer and veteran’s supporter, Jodi Champagne.”
Champagne is set to release her new series of books “Diminishing Generations World War II — Korea — Vietnam.” The stories are “powerful and very personal.” Champagne travelled around the country as well as locally in the Antelope Valley, to interview the veterans for the book. Proceeds from the book sales will benefit the veterans through the Gary Sinise Foundation.
The Antelope Valley Young Marines will present the Colors; Antelope Valley Blue Star Mothers will place the military service wreaths at the flagpoles; Christopher Parke will play the bagpipes during the ceremony; Bob Alvis, President of Friends of the Lancaster Cemetery, will relate a story entitled “Jeeps;” and Halley Olsen Murphy Funerals and Cremations will provide the refreshments.
All members of the community to attend.
The Veterans Day program at Lancaster Cemetery District will remember those veterans from all wars and conflicts that have served, and continue to serve our country so that we may continue to live our lives in freedom.
