Vets4Veterans organized nearly a decade ago when veterans meeting at the Palmdale Vet Center decided that they wanted to help veterans who are in dire straits, or who need help in transition to civilian society.
The group helps with emergencies for local veterans, with scholarships for veterans attending Antelope Valley College, and is seeking to establish transitional housing of up to six months for a veteran and family members in need.
Car show volunteer meetings take place at 5 p.m. every Wednesday until the event.
The meetings are at The Highlands Christian Fellowship, 39625 20th St. West, at Rancho Vista Boulevard (Avenue P), meeting in Room 206. Meetings are expected to end by 6:30 p.m.
People are needed to help with food and hospitality, with set-up, with contest organizing, supporting the Poker Run, and after-event clean-up.
