A huge turnout of trick-or-treaters bombarded the William J. “Pete” knight Veterans Home in Lancaster, Calif., Halloween afternoon. The kiddos had fun collecting treats from resident veterans and the resident vets had just as much fun dressing up and handing out treats.
Some eight years ago Lancaster, Calif., resident Alexis Gillespie brought several young students from I Lead Lancaster Charter School to the William J. “Pete” Knight Veterans Home to share in some Trick or Treat fun with the local resident veterans.
“By the third year the word was out and everybody wanted to come,” said Gillespie. She said as a result, what started out as a nice gesture soon became a regular event.
This Halloween children from several local schools joined in the fun and shared their trick-or-treating fun with the residents of the local veterans’ home.
Local resident Rebecca Rischar aka Pooh Bear brought her children to the William J. “Pete” Knight Veterans Home Halloween afternoon to play trick or treat with the many residents of the home. Two-and-a-half-year-old fireman Benjamin Stevens was on hand at the local veterans’ home this Halloween to ensure the Trick-or-Treat event was orderly and safe for all those attending.
