Airman 1st Class Demetrius Smith, 56th Civil Engineer Squadron heavy equipment operator, washes the exterior of the vehicle as well as the interior Jan. 5 at Luke Air Force Base. Street sweepers are used most often after storms hit the base to clear debris left by the winds and rain.

Smith washes the interior as part of the job.

Smith uses a shovel to get remaining foreign object debris out of the street sweeper. Smith ensured the street sweeper was empty as part of its extensive cleaning process.

Smith drives along perimeter road at Luke. Street sweeping, heavy equipment movement and excavators for trenches are used to support jobs around base and 56th CES.

Smith checks the oil. The street sweepers are primarily used on the airfield and secondly for the streets on base.
