Col. David Shoemaker, 56th Fighter Wing vice commander, takes a ride in the back seat of an Indy race car during racing practice Saturday at Phoenix International Raceway. Shoemaker was treated to the full racing experience, which featured riding for two laps around the track in an Indy-style race car with world-champion racing driver Mario Andretti in the driver’s seat.
