The 56th Security Forces Squadron handled the following incidents Feb. 22 through 28 at Luke Air Force Base:
Tickets
Security forces issued citations for 39 moving and 20 nonmoving violations.
Traffic-related incidents
Security forces responded to four minor vehicle accidents on base.
Emergency responses
Feb. 28: Security forces responded to reports of an individual driving under the Influence. Field sobriety tests were administered which the individual failed. The individual was advised of his rights and charged for the offense.
Security forces responded to three medical emergencies on base. Security forces implemented traffic control measures and administered initial first aid until medical services arrived. The individuals were transported to nearby hospitals.
Nonemergency responses
Feb. 22: Security forces responded to a warrant’s hit at South Gate Visitor Center. The individual was searched with negative findings. Glendale police responded and took control.
Feb. 23: Security forces responded to a warrant’s hit at South Gate Visitor Center. The individual was searched with negative findings. The Department of Public Safety was contacted, arrived and took control.
Feb. 27: Security forces responded to a report of shoplifting at the Luke air force Base Exchange. Security forces detained a dependent after video evidence confirmed items were taken without rendering full payment. Glendale police responded and took control.
Alarm activations
Security forces responded to five alarm activations on base.
Tip of the week
Most motorists aren’t looking for bicyclists riding on the wrong side of the road. State law requires bicyclists to drive in the same direction as other vehicles.
