One of the staples at Luke Air Force Base is the weekly newspaper, the Thunderbolt. The base newspaper is nearly 72 years old and has had five names, but the common denominator has been keeping the base population up to date with events.
Today we say goodbye to the weekly edition as the Thunderbolt transitions to a monthly newspaper published the first Friday of the month. It will remain a staple reporting the history being made almost daily at Luke and continue in two formats — paper delivered to the same locations as the weekly, and online via the Luke Air Force Base web site and at https://www.aerotechnews.com/lukeafb/.
Readers will see some changes to the Thunderbolt, but for the most part, it will report the latest events taking place at Luke and look very much like it has for the past 10 years. It will continue to include news, features, commentaries, photos, briefs, the latest mission training stats and more. Greater emphasis will be placed on sharing the military story from the perspective of individuals whether active-duty, retired or separated.
