Thunderbolt Digital Edition - May 2020

Hello, Fighter Country Friends – thanks for checking out the May edition of Luke AFB Thunderbolt! We have some extra content included in our digital edition here that you won’t find in the papers available on the newsstands – we hope you’ll click through and enjoy the extra news and features. This month, we take a look at the innovative Air Force “think tank” program, AFWERX, as it steps up to work on two big priority projects: Base of the Future and Space Challenge. Base of the Future focuses on the reconstruction of Tyndall AFB, which was heavily damaged by Hurricane Michael. Elements of Tyndall’s reconstruction may be used to benefit all bases in the future – a topic of interest to us all. Click on the link below to read this and other stories in your free digital copy of Luke AFB Thunderbolt, viewable on your computer or mobile device.

Here are some more highlights from the May edition:

  • Senior Airman volunteers, aids veterans amidst COVID-19: page 4
  • F-35 Joint Program Office honored with SecDef award: page 5
  • Historic inspiration – the Doolittle Raid: page 7
  • 944th medics mobilize for pandemic response: page 10
  • Photo Feature- Luke F-35s gas up on the fly: page 12
  • Pilot study aims to save money with fewer oil changes: page 13

All this and much more, in this month’s edition of Luke AFB Thunderbolt! We’d like to take a moment and extend sincere thanks and a shout out to our advertisers, who continue in their support not only of Aerotech and Luke AFB, but of YOU, the defense and military community. Please remember them when you are looking for businesses to support now and in the future, as we move into new phases of our fight against COVID-19. Hard copies of the paper will be available at various distribution points on base and in surrounding areas starting May 1st. “Like” our Facebook page for daily news updates – we now regularly cross-post news and features from our entire desert Southwest service area (because we’re ALL in this together!) As always, THANK YOU for your support – it’s our privilege to serve you! Be safe and be well. #aerotechnews #lukeafbnews
