Aerotech News and Review – Journal of Aerospace, Defense Industry and Veteran News, serving the Antelope Valley and Edwards AFB, CA
Aerotech News Digital Edition September 21, 2018
Welcome to the Aerotech News and Review Digital Edition! We have so MUCH news lined up for you in the Sept. 21st edition of Aerotech – let’s start off with our cover story, the latest step in the KC-46A Pegasus program. Deliveries of the much-anticipated tanker aircraft are expected to begin later this year. You can tell Fall is approaching in Aerospace Valley, not only from the moderating temperatures, but also the approach of Veterans Day. Click through to page 5 for information on two of the most popular: the 2018 Gathering of Eagles, and the Coffee4Vets Veterans Military Ball. Both evenings have tickets available for sale, and are also accepting sponsorships. We have our tickets – how about you? On page 6, Pete Merlin brings us the story – along with one of his great liftoff photos – of the launch of the last Delta II rocket from Vandenberg AFB last week. Truly the end of an era – read about the launch and the important NASA satellite payload put into orbit on this final mission.
And on the lighter side – who doesn’t love a great dog story? Bob Alvis brings us another tale from Lancaster’s historic War Eagle Field, this time featuring Tailwheel, the four-legged mascot of our pilots-in-training back during WWII. Sure to bring a smile to your face – along with pix from the Pete Knight Veterans Home, the Hansen Hangar Barbeque in Mojave, and much more in this week’s edition of Aerotech News!
