NELLIS AIR FORCE BASE, Nev. — The Airman and Family Readiness Center is sponsoring an annual lecture on transitioning out of the military Dec. 11 at the base theater here from 8:30 to 11:00 a.m.
Retired U.S. Army Col. Terri Coles, Military Officers Association of America deputy director of transition services, will present a lecture entitled “Marketing Yourself for a Second Career.”
The presentation is aimed to aid military personnel who are contemplating retirement or separation from the military in the next one to five years.
Additionally, the presentation serves as a tool for officers and senior enlisted members who are mentoring or counseling fellow military members who are in the process of transitioning from the military.
The presentation is given annually at more than 150 military installations of all services worldwide and has been praised by audiences as, “up-to-date, hard-hitting, and sharply focused – a must see.”
It includes comprehensive information on the retirement decision itself, employer perceptions, competition, resumes, cover letters, job search, networking, career fairs, interview techniques, salary negotiation, benefits packages, the current job market, and other relevant and important transition topics.
The presentation is geared toward officers and senior enlisted, but those of all ranks are welcome. Spouses are encouraged to attend as well.
All who attend will receive a free copy of the lecture’s companion book, “Getting Down to Business” which is an in-depth, all-in-one resource for the transition process.
