Nellis Auto Hobby Shop
The Nellis Auto Hobby Shop is looking for volunteers who are interested in teaching people how to properly take care of their vehicle.
The shop wants to start a program that will teach:
• Car Care 101
• Oil Changes
• Preventative Maintenance
• Tire Wear and Tear Detection

‘80s Trivia Night: Community Commons is hosting ‘80s Trivia Night, 5-7 p.m., Sept. 21. Cost is $20 for a team of four and includes team entry fee and hors d’oeuvres. For more information, contact Community Commons at 702-679-0967.
Cheerleading/Flag Football registration: Registration for youth cheerleading and flag football runs Sept. 24-Oct. 5 and the season runs October through November. Cost is $40 for members, $50 for non-members. Cheerleading and flag football is open to all dependents of active duty, retired military and DOD civilians. Registrants must present military ID card or birth certificate upon registering. Additionally, a current (within one year) sports physical and up-to-date immunization record must be on file with the Youth Center. Age groups are: Rookie, 6-7; Pro, 8-9, and senior, 10-12. Oktoberfest: Force Support is hosting Oktoberfest at 5 p.m., Sept. 28 at the Sports Pavilion Park across from Main Lodging. There will be a beer garden, traditional German food, live music and activities for all ages. Beverage and merchandise sales are cash only at the event. Presale packages are available at C2 through Sept. 27.
Presale Option 1 ($25) includes a 34-ounce Oktoberfest stein, a beer and pretzel: Presale Option 2 ($20) includes a 16-ounce stein, one beer and a pretzel. Package price at the event are $30 for option 1, and $25 for option 2. ATMs are available at Main Lodging and the DFAC.
Indoor Pool: The indoor pool at the Warrior Fitness Center is open for lap swimming Monday-Friday, 6 a.m.-6:30 p.m., Saturdays, 8 a.m.-noon, and holidays, 8 a.m.3 p.m. The pool is open for recreational swimming Monday-Friday, 10-11 a.m., Saturdays, 8 a.m.-noon, and holidays, 8 a.m.-3 p.m. Contact Outdoor Recreation for information about scuba classes and swimming lessons at 702-652-2514.
Horseback riding: Outdoor Recreation is offering one-hour guided trail tours at Bonnie Springs Ranch’s Old Nevada Town. The cost is $75 and includes transportation, horseback riding, and activities on the ranch. The trip is open to anyone six years and older, and the weight limit is 250 pounds. Participants must wear close-toed shoes, and no double riding is allowed. The next trip is scheduled for Sept. 29, and the trip runs 9 a.m.-5 p.m. For more information, call 702-652-2514.
Fall Festival: Join Child and Youth Programs at the Youth Center’s sports filed, 10 a.m.-1 p.m., Oct. 27 for the Fall Harvest Festival. There will be free food, pumpkin patch, carnival games, costume contest, sweets, treats and lots of not-so-spooky fall fun. Thrift Store: Volunteers needed: The Nellis Area Spouses’ Club Thrift Shop is looking for volunteers. There are many opportunities including donation sorting, pricing, straightening shelves, stocking the store, bagging, assisting the casher and many more. Volunteer hours are 9 a.m.-2 p.m., Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and the first Saturday of each month. Volunteers with small children will be reimbursed for childcare costs. Shuttle bus: Nellis dorm and Base Housing residents who work at Creech now have another option for transportation to and from work — a new FEDVAN Shuttle option to/from Creech.
